Welcome to the first Unit of the Level 3 certificate in information, advice or guidance.
About the unit
This unit will provide you with essential underpinning knowledge required to deliver information, advice or guidance practice and allows you to reflect on your, role, actual or potential, as a IAG practitioner.
This unit has 4 learning outcomes:
- Understand the relationship between information, advice or guidance.
- Recognise the limits of own ability and role in relation to delivering information, advice or guidance.
- Understand equality and diversity in relation to information, advice or guidance.
- Understand own organisation’s policy on record keeping, data protection and confidentiality.
The learning materials in this unit also support Unit 2: Applying Interactive Skills for Information, Advice or Guidance; assessment criteria 4.1, 4.2, 5.1 and 5.2 and Unit 4: Managing, Accessing and Creating Information Resources in Information, Advice or Guidance assessment criteria 4.1, 4.2.

The course features several quizzes, which will be used to test your knowledge and understanding. These quizzes are a compulsory part of the course and each will be marked by the course tutor and will form part of your assessment. Any assignments carried out as part of each unit will need to be uploaded. All of the assessments for each unit can be found on the unit assessment page.
