Practical Assignment

For this unit 3 assignment you will evidence your interaction skills for information, advice and guidance.

The practical assignment requires you to submit an audio file of a meeting with at least two clients.

It is important that consent is obtained from the clients and where possible ensure the client is not identifiable .

The audio will be observed by the tutor who will assess your practice against the assessment criteria for each of the following learning outcomes:

  • L/O 1 Demonstrate how to explain the information, advice or guidance service and own role, agreeing use of the service with clients.
  • L/O 2 Understand how to explore a range of options with the client to meet their requirements.
  • L/O 3 Know how to agree an appropriate course of action with the client.
  • L/O 4 Understand how to explore a range of options with the client to meet their requirements.
  • L/O 5 Know how to agree an appropriate course of action with a client.

and Unit 7

  • L/O 4 Demonstrate good practice when referring clients.

You will also need to fill in and submit the Unit 3 assignment proforma form. This can be downloaded here.

The form provides space for you to state where your digital evidence meets the assessment criteria for the unit. A simple way to do this is to record the time in the video. Feel free to add any comments which you feel would support your answers.

Top tips for audio recording your assignment:

  • Do you have permission to audio record in the venue?
  • Have you obtained signed consent from the client?
  • Where possible use a settings which will allow you to record hands free
  • Ensure the clients confidentiality is maintained by removing any identifiable information.
  • Test your audio before recording.
  • Will an audio transcript be needed?
