Interaction skills for IAG

This unit provides learners with the opportunity to carry out observed interactions in order to gain feedback on strengths and areas for improvement in information, advice or guidance delivery. It also encourages the learner to reflect on how to maintain and reinforce effectiveness and how to integrate information, advice or guidance principles in service delivery.

On completion of this unit you will:

  • Demonstrate how to explain the information, advice or guidance service and own role, agreeing use of the service with clients.
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality, data protection and impartiality in interactions with clients.
  • Understand the importance of effective communication skills in the delivery of information, advice or guidance.
  • Understand how to explore a range of options with the client to meet their requirements.
  • Know how to agree an appropriate course of action with the client.
  • Identify personal development needs.

The unit assessment will include a practical assignment, alongside quizzes which can be completed online . All assessments for this unit can be found on the Unit 2: assessment page.

Practical Assignment

As part if the unit you will carry out an information, advice or guidance session with a client demonstrating your skills and reflecting on and evaluating your practice. The session can be carried out at your own place of work and be evidenced through audio file and the completion of the assignment proforma.
