‘Three-quarters of headteachers agree that the rollout of RSE was crucial for creating a culture of safeguarding in the school’. However, in this survey which was carried out by NEU and NSPCC. which looked into school readiness for RSE, found that although many teachers backed the importance of RSE, Half of the teachers said they lack the confidence to teach it.
Lack of knowledge around RSE topics has been one of the factors hindering confidence, with many non-specialist educators explaining that they themselves did not receive any sex education and have not had any RSE training.
